About Us

Our Story

After 13 years of experience in the industry, Atelier was founded in 2024 by Liana Kinnen. The aim was to create a friendly, relaxed environment where client and artist could work together in close collaboration, a space built on creativity, care, and connection, where every tattoo is approached with intention.

Atelier was born from a desire to do things differently, to slow the process down and refocus on the client experience. The belief is that getting a tattoo should be just as meaningful and enjoyable as the final result. From the initial conversation to the final session, every effort is made to ensure clients feel listened to, understood, and involved in the creative process.

This is more than just a studio, it is a place where individuals come to express themselves, to mark significant moments, or simply to wear a piece of art they love. Every aspect of the experience is rooted in that purpose.

Our Studio

Atelier places a strong emphasis on individuality, taking time to develop bespoke designs that reflect each client’s story and style. Every tattoo is treated with care and consideration, recognising the significance it may hold. Ongoing communication is a key part of the experience, with clients kept informed and involved at every stage to ensure they feel supported, comfortable, and fully engaged from start to finish.

Our Process

  • To book an appointment, clients are asked to complete the booking form available on the website. Atelier will then make contact via email to discuss the application in more detail. Once the proposed design is agreed upon by both client and artist, a deposit will be required to confirm the booking.

  • Clients can typically expect to be contacted toward the end of the working week to discuss design ideas before the drawing process begins, as this forms a key part of the research phase. Final designs are usually shared over the weekend ahead of the scheduled appointment. While adjustments can be made, significant changes to the agreed concept may result in a loss of deposit due to the additional time required for redesigning.

  • Upon arrival, clients will spend approximately 30 minutes completing a consent form and confirming the size and placement of their design. This time also allows for any final questions to be addressed. For full-day bookings, a short 30-minute break is scheduled halfway through for lunch. At the end of the session, clear aftercare instructions are provided to ensure clients feel confident in looking after their new tattoo.

  • During the healing process, clients are encouraged to send photos so the progress of the tattoo can be monitored. This approach helps ensure the best possible outcome, as healing can vary from person to person. With clear communication and proper guidance, Atelier aims to support a smooth and successful healing journey.

About Liana

There was never any question that I’d follow a create path - I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil! art was a constant throughout school, but everything changed the summer I began a tattoo apprenticeship. What started as a curiosity quickly became a lifelong calling. 13 years later, tattooing has taken me on an incredible journey of growth, collaboration and self expression.

Since I started my apprenticeship in 2012, I’ve watched the industry evolve in extra ordinary ways. Innovations in technology have unlocked new creative possibilities, allowing for more intricate detail, refined techniques and bold experimentation. One of my favourite parts of the process is working with other artists, bouncing ideas off one another, learning and inspiring in return.

Atelier was born from a long standing dream: to build a welcoming, collaborative space where creativity flows freely. After co-owning a studio in Chester for 3 years, 2024 felt like the perfect time to return to my roots in North Wales and shape something that felt completely my own.

While I specialise in realism, I’m extremely passionate about the avant-garde - a style that allows me to break the rules, challenge conventions, and create work that feels bold, unexpected and truly original. I thrive on designing pieces that push boundaries and offer something entirely unique, always aiming to innovate with every tattoo.
